Since my business is advertising, I'm constantly asked to evaluate, or re-write, ads that people have been supplied with to market some affiliate program, or mlm program, they have been trying to sell.

The ad I receive for evaluation, in most cases, wouldn't sell a free glass of water to someone who has been lost in the desert for a week. Dull, boring, no life, completely void of any personality or emotional presence.

Before I do anything, I take a long look at the product being sold and and center on the one thing that makes this particular product rise above anything else and cause me to actually want what's being sold. Not need it, but want it.

The first major flaw.

Most advertising materials on the Internet do not incorporate that kind of emotional pull. Most ad materials now are full of hype and generic details that they all seem the same.

Usually poor responses can be traced back to a very poor ad that doesn't do it's job. Make the reader actually feel a want for that product.

The second major flaw.

Another problem with advertising is the lack of use.

When putting together an advertising campaign for someone, the first thing I always ask them is what have they done in the past. What have they done to advertise their websites?

When the ads start to run Joe notices some great traffic numbers but not too many sales, at least not as many as he would like. He does make some profit, but not enough to really do any more quality advertising.

So, Joe has two options... go into debt or wait until he can scrape up enough money to advertise again.

How familiar is that story? It's happening everyday to people who want to make a living online, but can't quite seem to get enough sales going to keep them afloat long enough to establish themselves.

The problem people are encountering, as Joe found out, is there are not enough follow up "exposures" in place to maximize that initial advertising expense.
